A calling card alternative for calling abroad from a browser

QuikRing does what a calling card does, calling a real phone number abroad at a price per minute, but from your browser: no card to buy, no PIN, no access number and no expiry date on your credit. The price per minute is shown before you call, and you pay for started minutes only.

Practical tips

What carries over from a calling card

A calling card gives you prepaid minutes for calling abroad. QuikRing keeps what is useful about that: you pay in advance, you pay per minute and there is no contract. On top of it, the price is shown before you call, there is no PIN, and your credit has no expiry date.

No PIN and no access number

A calling card asks you to dial an access number, enter a PIN and then dial the destination. In QuikRing there is one step: sign in, type the number and press Call.

The price before you dial

The price per minute of the exact number appears before you press Call, and there is no connection fee. You are billed per started minute, and busy, unanswered and failed calls cost nothing.

Credit that stays

Your credit does not expire, however long it sits in your account. There is no card to lose and no balance to track on plastic: your balance and every call, with its cost, are in your account.

Landlines, mobiles and toll-free numbers

QuikRing calls landlines and mobiles in 220 countries and territories, and US and Canadian toll-free numbers too. Each destination has its own price for landline and mobile, shown before you call.

Show a number the other person knows

After your first top-up you can verify your own mobile number as your caller ID, so on routes that support it the person you call sees a number they know. If a route can't, the dialer tells you when the call starts.

Your first call, start to finish

Sign up with an email address and open the dialer. If your first call goes to a destination in the free-call offer, it is free for up to one minute. For any other call, add credit first, type the number with its country code, check the price and press Call. When you hang up, you are done: nothing to scratch, dial or enter afterwards.

What your balance shows after a call

When the call ends, your balance goes down by the cost of the call, and the call appears under Recent calls and in Call history with its duration, its cost and the minutes-times-rate math behind it. When the balance is getting low, your dashboard shows about how many minutes it covers to the country you last called, so you can top up before the next call.

Call from wherever you are

QuikRing works wherever you have an internet connection and a browser, on a phone, a tablet or a computer: at home, in a hotel or in a café. Sign in to the same account and your balance and your call history are there.

Top up the amount you need

You choose the amount, at or above the minimum shown on the Credits page, and the credit stays on your account. Start with a small top-up for a few calls and add more later. Larger top-ups can include bonus credit, which the Credits page shows.

Compare countries in seconds

The rates page lists every country with the price per minute for landline and mobile, so you can see at a glance what each country you call costs. The dialer then repeats the exact price for the number you typed, and you decide whether to press Call. Nothing is charged until the call is answered.

Frequently asked questions

Is QuikRing an alternative to a calling card?

Yes. You load prepaid credit and call real landlines and mobiles abroad at a price per minute, as with a calling card, but from your browser: no card to buy, no PIN, no access number to dial and no expiry date on your credit. The price is shown before you call.

Do I need a PIN or an access number?

No. You sign in to your account, type the number with its country code and press Call. There is nothing to dial first and no PIN to enter.

Do I need a smartphone?

You need a device with a browser, a microphone and an internet connection: a smartphone, a tablet or a computer. The person you call needs only a phone that rings, with no app and no internet.

Does my credit expire?

No. Unused credit does not expire, however long it sits in your account. The one condition in the terms is that an account left dormant for a long time may be closed, and we email you first and give you the chance to use the balance.

Can I call toll-free numbers?

US and Canadian toll-free numbers (800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, 833) can be called from QuikRing, and a few numbers carry their own price, shown before you confirm. Toll-free numbers of other countries usually cannot be reached from abroad.

Can the person I call see who is calling?

By default they see a QuikRing number. After your first top-up you can verify your own mobile as your caller ID, and on routes that support it they see your number. QuikRing receives calls only on a number you rent.

How much do I need to add?

Add an amount you choose, at or above the minimum shown on the Credits page. The credit stays on your account, you can add more whenever you like, and nothing renews.

What if the call does not connect?

Busy, unanswered and failed calls are never charged, so you can try again straight away. You pay once the call is answered, which includes a recorded menu or a voicemail greeting.
