Before you buy
Which numbers can't I call?
Emergency numbers, short service numbers and most premium-rate numbers.
Emergency numbers such as 911, 112, 999 and 000 are blocked, and so are short service numbers like operator or directory enquiries. Use a mobile or landline phone for those.
Most premium-rate numbers can't be called. Where one can, it carries its own higher price, shown before you dial, and the dialer asks you to confirm.
Toll-free numbers of other countries (0800, 1800 and similar) usually can't be reached from outside their own country. US and Canadian toll-free numbers can be called.
A new account may need to top up before it calls a few high-priced destinations. The dialer says so before you dial.
