Calling
How can I improve call quality?
Echo, delay and choppy audio usually come from the connection or the audio device.
Use a headset with a microphone. When a laptop's speakers and microphone are close together, the person you call can hear an echo.
Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or use a wired connection, and pause large downloads, uploads or video streams during the call. A call needs only a small but steady amount of bandwidth.
If you're on mobile data with a weak signal, switch to Wi-Fi, or the other way round.
Close other tabs and apps that use the microphone, such as video meetings.
If a call drops because of a network problem, the dialer tells you. The status page shows whether anything is wrong on our side.
