Calling

What if pressing 1 does nothing during a call?

Tap the keypad on the screen once the call is answered. Digits typed on a computer keyboard are not sent to the call.

A phone menu only hears keys after the call is answered. While the line is still ringing, the keypad is greyed out. Wait for the other side to pick up, then press your option.

During a call, tap the keys on the screen. The keypad is always shown mid-call, on a phone and on a computer. Each tap sends one tone to the call, plays a short beep for you and flashes the key.

Digits typed on a computer keyboard are not sent to the call, and pressing Enter or Escape hangs up. Use the on-screen keypad instead.

To reach an extension, dial the company's main number, wait until the call is answered, then enter the extension on the on-screen keypad. Don't type it after the number before you call: the number field takes digits only, so the extension would be dialed as part of the phone number.

If a menu asks you to say something, speak normally and check that the mute button is off. How a menu reacts to a key is up to the company's phone system. If you hear the beep but nothing happens, wait for the menu to finish speaking and press again. If you are still stuck, write to support with the number and roughly when you called.
