Numbers and account

Can I bring my existing phone number to QuikRing?

Yes, a US or Canadian mobile or landline number, from Numbers in your dashboard.

From Numbers in your dashboard, choose Move my number to bring a US or Canadian mobile or landline number you already have. Toll-free numbers can't be moved. Once it has moved, calls to the number ring in your browser, voicemail is transcribed, texts are received, calls can be forwarded, and you can call out showing this number. This number can't call 911 or other emergency services; see “Can I call emergency numbers?” in this Help Center.

Some banks don't send verification codes to internet phone numbers. We can't guarantee they will reach this number after the move, so check with your bank first if you rely on the number for codes.

Keep your current line active until the move is complete. Cancelling it first can lose the number. The number keeps working with your current carrier until then.

A move usually takes about 7 business days, or 1–4 with FastPort. You can follow each step on the Numbers page, and we email you at every step. If your carrier needs a correction, the page and the email say what to change. Fix it within 14 days, or the carrier closes the request. We remind you on days 3 and 10.

To protect numbers from being taken over, moving a number opens once your email address is confirmed and you have topped up credit at least a week ago. You also need enough credit for the first 30 days of the number when you submit the request. We charge no fee for moving a number to a personal account.

After the move, the number costs the same price as a rented number in the same country, charged every 30 days, with the first charge 30 days after it goes live. If your balance can't cover the next 30 days, the number is suspended and incoming calls stop, but we keep it for 30 days. We email you on days 0, 7 and 21 of that time. Topping up enough to cover the next charge during these 30 days turns the number back on by itself. After 30 days the number is released.

You can move the number away from QuikRing whenever you like, including while it is suspended. An unpaid balance never stops a move. Under Port-out PIN on the Numbers page, set a PIN of 6 to 8 digits for the number, and give it to your new carrier when it asks for a transfer PIN. If your new carrier asks for an account number, give it this phone number: QuikRing doesn't use separate account numbers. For anything else the move needs, contact support. We email you whenever a carrier asks to move your number.

  1. 01On Numbers in your dashboard, choose Move my number and check that your number can be moved.
  2. 02Get your account number and transfer PIN from your carrier. AT&T: dial *PORT (*7678) from the phone. Verizon: dial #PORT (#7678). T-Mobile: request a transfer PIN in the T-Mobile app or your account. Turn off Number Lock or port protection first.
  3. 03Enter the account holder name and address exactly as they appear on your bill, and upload a bill dated within 30 days.
  4. 04Type your full name to sign the letter of authorization, then submit the request.
  5. 05Keep your old line active until we email you that the number is live. Then set a port-out PIN for it on the Numbers page.
