Frequently asked questions

Why can't the site see my microphone?

Most browsers hide the microphone list, and block access outright, until you grant this page permission. Click start above and choose Allow when your browser asks.

I can hear the test tone but the other person can't hear me on calls — why?

That usually means the wrong microphone is selected, or your microphone is muted at the operating-system level. Use the device picker above to confirm which microphone is active, and check your system's sound settings.

Does this test use my real phone minutes?

No. This page only uses your browser's microphone and speakers — it never places a call or touches your QuikRing balance.

I hear an echo when I test my speakers — is that normal?

A slight echo here is normal if your speakers and microphone are close together and both active at once; a real call uses echo cancellation that this simple tone test doesn't. If a real call still echoes, try headphones.
