Avoid Movistar roaming fees
SpainMovistar's Zone 3 roaming rate is €3.03 per minute, plus a €1.94 connection fee charged on every single call. A 10-minute call home from outside Europe costs over €30.
How Movistar charges for roaming
Zone 3 (most of Africa outside the Maghreb, Asia and Oceania) adds a €1.94 connection fee on top of the €3.03/min rate — a cheaper Zone 2 (Turkey, Switzerland, Ukraine and others) still runs €1.82/min plus €1.21 setup. Inside the EU, "roam like at home" rules mean calls cost your normal Movistar rate.

Frequently asked questions
Does Movistar charge extra just to start a call while roaming?
Yes. Outside the EU, Movistar adds a per-call connection fee (up to €1.94) on top of its per-minute rate, so even a short call costs more than the minutes alone suggest.
